Frequently asked questions
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Open the app and go to Settings → Get Pro. Tap the upgrade button and complete the one-time purchase through the App Store. Pro is a lifetime unlock — you pay once and keep it forever, with no subscription.
How do routines work?
Open the Routines tab and tap +. Pick your exercises, set the number of sets and rounds, and choose a rest time. Tap Start Routine and the app guides you set by set: logging a set starts the rest timer, and you can Skip an exercise or mark it Won't Do. The free plan includes one routine; Pro unlocks unlimited routines.
I left a routine halfway — is my progress lost?
No. Your round, exercise order and skipped exercises are saved. Open the routine and tap Resume Routine to carry on. A routine stays open until you tap End Routine or Finish Routine.
Why did I get a "Still training?" notification?
If a routine is still running and you haven't logged a set for a while, Gym Companion sends a reminder so you don't forget to finish it. The delay follows Settings → Sessions → Auto-end after. Tap the notification to open the workout and end it. If notifications are turned off, a forgotten routine closes automatically after a longer period instead.
How does iCloud Sync work?
iCloud Sync is included for everyone. Your workouts are stored in your personal iCloud account and synced across every iPhone signed in with the same Apple ID. Make sure iCloud is enabled for Gym Companion in your device settings. You can check the status under Settings → Sync in the app.
The app isn't syncing between my devices — what should I do?
First, confirm that iCloud is enabled: go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud and check that Gym Companion is toggled on. Also check that both devices are online. In the app, open Settings → Sync and tap Recheck iCloud Status. If sync still doesn't work, force-quit and reopen the app on both devices, and contact us with your device models and iOS versions if the issue persists.
I restored my iPhone — how do I get my workouts back?
Sign in with the same Apple ID and make sure iCloud is enabled for Gym Companion. Your workouts sync back automatically. If iCloud was turned off on the old device, your data can only be recovered from a device backup.
Can I export my workout data?
With Pro, completed workouts are exported to Apple Health, where you can view and export them using the Health app. A dedicated CSV or JSON export is on the roadmap for a future update.
How do I delete all my data?
To delete local data, delete the app from your device. To delete iCloud data, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Gym Companion and delete the stored data there.
I was charged but Pro isn't unlocked — what do I do?
Go to Settings → Restore Purchases inside the app. This re-validates your purchase with the App Store and should unlock Pro immediately. If that doesn't work, contact us with your Apple ID email and the order number from Apple.
