Frequently asked questions
Is Gym Companion a good gym log app for beginners?
Yes. You pick exercises from a built-in catalog of 94 exercises grouped by muscle, log weight and reps with two scroll wheels, and the app remembers your previous set so you know what to lift next time.
Does it support kg and lb?
Yes. Log in kg or lb, or mark a set as bodyweight. You can set a preferred unit and have weights converted automatically when you log.
Can I add my own exercises?
The full catalog is free. Custom exercises — with your own name, muscle group and bodyweight setting — are part of Gym Companion Pro.
How is the estimated 1-rep max calculated?
Gym Companion uses the Epley formula: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30). Try it yourself with our free 1RM calculator.
Does my data sync between devices?
Yes. Workouts sync through your own iCloud account to every iPhone signed in with the same Apple ID — included for free.
