Workout routine planner for iPhone.

A routine in Gym Companion is a saved workout: your exercises, how many sets of each, how many rounds and how long to rest. Start it and the app guides you set by set — so you can focus on the lift, not the log.

How do routines work in Gym Companion?

Build a routine once, then run it every time you train. Five steps:

  1. 1

    Create a routine

Open the Routines tab and tap +. Give it a name, then set the number of rounds (1–10) and the rest timer.

  2. 2

    Add exercises

Tap Add Exercises and pick one or several from your library, then set how many sets each exercise should have. Drag to change the order.

  3. 3

    Start the routine

Open it and tap Start Routine. The next exercise is always highlighted, with your target sets and the sets you've logged.

  4. 4

    Log sets and rest

Tap Log Set after each set — the rest timer starts on its own. Machine taken? Skip it and come back later, or mark it Won't Do.

  5. 5

    Finish

When every exercise in the last round is done, tap Finish Routine. The workout is saved to your history — and to Apple Health with Pro.

Built for real gym sessions

Rounds

Run the whole list more than once — circuits, supersets or classic 3×10. The app tracks which round you're on.

Built-in rest timer

Starts automatically after each logged set and keeps counting in the background.

Skip & Won't Do

Busy machine? Skip to the next exercise and come back. Not today? Leave it out for the round.

Resume anytime

Round, order and skipped exercises are saved with the workout. Leave the app and pick up exactly where you were.

Reminder to finish

Forgot to end the routine? You'll get a "Still training?" notification instead of a half-finished workout.

History per routine

Every completed session of a routine in one list — date, duration, sets and estimated calories.

Routines — frequently asked questions

How many routines can I create?

The free version includes one routine. Gym Companion Pro — a one-time purchase — unlocks unlimited routines.

What happens if I leave a routine halfway?

Nothing is lost. Your current round, the order of exercises and anything you skipped or marked Won't Do are saved with the workout. Open the routine and tap Resume Routine to continue where you left off.

What is the difference between Skip and Won't Do?

Skip moves the exercise to the end of the round so you can come back to it — handy when a machine is busy. Won't Do leaves it out for the rest of the round.

Will I get a reminder if I forget to end a routine?

Yes. If a routine is still running and no set has been logged for a while, Gym Companion sends a "Still training?" notification. The delay follows Settings → Sessions → Auto-end after. With notifications turned off, a forgotten routine closes automatically after a longer period instead.

Can I log an exercise that isn't in the routine?

Yes. Sets you log from the Exercises tab while a routine is running are added to the same workout and shown under "Additional Exercises" in its history.

Are routines synced to Apple Health?

With Pro, each finished routine is saved to Apple Health as a strength-training workout with its duration and estimated active energy. See Apple Health export.
